Meet the Family / Special Edition
This week we say hello to Jack….
Our IT Apprentice joined Prima over a year on his 2 year-long apprenticeship
We caught up with Jack to have a chat, to talk his time here at Prima, his passion for IT and all things Jack. Here is what he had to say.
Hi Jack, you have been at Prima for roughly a year now, how has your time been here so far?
I have enjoyed my time so far and I feel I have learned a lot. I like the people I get to work with.
How has COVID had an effect on your apprenticeship with Prima?
COVID has introduced a lot more measures that must be taken out by the IT team such as moving PCs around as people must be separated and maintaining the ability for people to work from home remotely. Having to work from home myself means I can’t do certain tasks that require me to be onsite myself.
Can you tell us a bit more about your apprenticeship and how Prima are assisting you?
My apprenticeship has a focus on maintaining a network so being able to physically work with one is very informative. My manager also assists in my learning.
Have you always wanted to be involved in IT, why?
I have always liked using computers and I’ve gotten very good at understanding them up until now. I thought it would be good to put that to use.
Before starting your apprenticeship, what did you know about Prima?
I didn’t know much about Prima before I started working here. I had viewed the website and I did a bit of research for the interview but apart from that I didn’t know about them.
After being here for a year, how would you describe Prima?
I would say everyone here at Prima is friendly and nice to work with.
Tell us a little about yourself, outside of work! What hobbies do you have or end up doing on your weekends?
I usually play videogames at home. I play bit of a variety, but I’d probably say I play fantasy games more than any others. I’ve also been thinking of learning to play the keyboard.
Lastly, as we are a cheese company, do you have a favourite cheese?
I like a nice red cheddar as it can add a nice kick to a meal.
What would be your favourite recipe/dish to use your favourite cheese on?
I’d say lasagne as it’s my favourite food and cheddar goes quite nicely with it.
Thank you Jack for chatting with us, it’s been great getting to know a little more about you!
