Prima partner with the Job Centre to help support local people back into employment
.
Prima Cheese have partnered with the local Job Centre to host a COVID-19 safe training scheme, aimed at helping the local unemployed community. As a business that has remained open throughout the pandemic. Prima takes great pride in supporting the North-East community and have been involved in numerous occasions over the past year and are proud to continue to offer their support on this training scheme.
.
Assisting Prima from the Seaham Job Centre Plus branch was Janet Kelly, Employee Advisor who explained; “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Prima Cheese our prestigious local employer and Durham County Council to support recruitment on our doorstep. Also enabling our Job Centre customers access work locally, with the correct training to achieve employment, we will continue to develop this as a route to employment.”

The training scheme taking place at Prima Cheese based in Seaham will allow candidates to gain the required skills needed and then have an interview for a position within the company. If they are successful they will start in our Production Department to begin their very own cheesy Prima journey!
.
We spoke with two long serving members of the Prima family for their thoughts.
.

Alex Smith, Production Manager; “Despite the ongoing disruption to everyone’s lives, Prima Cheese continue to provide product and services to our customers. We are proud to help those whose lives have been affected by COVID to have a fresh start with a company committed to developing and giving opportunity to their staff.”

Ronnie Malkin, Senior Shift Manager: “Here at Prima, we are a family run and orientated business, and you join the team, you become part of the Prima family. If we can get one person back into work, it means that we are helping support families within the North East area.”
.
We want to thank Janet, and all involved at the Job Centre/Department for Work and Pensions for their support and assistance. Search Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on LinkedIn for more information.
