Who better to feature in our latest edition than Anthony Alaba, who has recently been promoted to our Health and Safety Coordinator?!
Anthony joined Prima in November 2021 working in our Operations department as a Production Operative. Since starting this position, he has shown very clearly how dedicated and hardworking he is to his role, the team and Prima Cheese. Anthony’s commitment to the company stood out to us in a short amount of time, so when the position of a Health and Safety Coordinator became available we knew he would be suitable for the role!
We asked Anthony a few questions about his first 6 months at Prima…
What interested you in working for Prima?
I knew that Prima had a positive reputation and are a good company to work for. They also promote equality and diversity so I knew that I would feel comfortable working for the company.
What skills, knowledge and experience have you gained since joining Prima?
Working in the Production department has helped me to pick up on a lot of skills from communication, proactiveness, integrity, adaptability and more. I’m looking forward to working in the Health and Safety department as I know I can apply everything I have learnt to the role.
What are your plans and goals at Prima?
When I first joined Prima, I knew I wanted to achieve more than the role that I applied for. Moving into this new role as a Health and Safety Coordinator, I am able to acquire more skills and knowledge that will help to make a positive impact on the organisation.
You’re about to move into your H&S role – how did this opportunity come about?
I believe this is a rare opportunity and one of the company values to give people the opportunity to grow which stands as a motivation to me and others in the organisation.
How has Prima supported you in your new role?
Prima has supported me in the aspect of giving day-on-day training, both internally and externally.
What’s your favourite thing about working for Prima?
Prima promotes teamwork, you’re never alone and they have a strong work culture of helping and supporting others. They provide excellent staff motivation skills across the organisation, the leaders help staff to be their best.
