The Role:

We have an exiting opportunity for a Credit Control Clerk to join our established Finance Department at our HQ in Seaham, County Durham. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the financial stability of the company and developing and maintaining strong customer relations.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, you will ensure customer payments are received promptly and efficiently as well as managing overdue accounts and taking relevant action where necessary.

The ideal candidate will be methodical with great attention to detail and will liaise and advise relevant departments on the status of customer accounts, ensuring communication is valid and factual throughout the company network.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor payment records ensuring any issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Process and allocate payments to specific accounts.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any queries.
  • Manage overdue accounts and take relevant action where necessary.
  • Report outstanding issues or potential problems with customers.
  • Liaise and advise relevant departments on customer status.
  • Manage cash expenses.
  • Calculate discounts and raise credits as required.
  • Complete driver reports and monitor order lists.
  • Process credit applications and establish terms.
  • Assist with the year-end external audit.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will join a supportive team within the Finance Department and training will be provided. Knowledge of Sage200 is ideal but not essential.

  • Previous experience in a Credit Controller Role or similar.
  • Minimum Level 3 in Math’s and English, relevant experience may be considered as alternative.
  • Excellent communication skills and telephone manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Organised and detail orientated.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
  • Team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular word and excel.
